• Know that the Importer is liable for compliance with the law.
• Know your Customhouse Broker, he signs your name to documents filed with the United States government.
• Determine the documentation needed for your shipment (before arrival).
• Determine the correct classification for Custom's purposes of your product and use it consistently.
• Know all government agencies that will be involved with your shipment.
• Know all costs of importing.
• Have an Invoice that describes your goods in detail with values and terms of sale (in English or with a translation into English).
• Stipulate on Purchase Orders and Sales Agreements that goods must be properly marked with the country of origin.
• Answer questions and requests posed by Customs honestly and promptly.
• Research you product thoroughly before importing.
