Importing

Definition: Customhouse Broker is a person or corporation licensed by the Treasury Department to transact Customs business on the behalf of others. When you hire a Customhouse Broker, he signs your company's name as "Attorney in Fact"; thereby, obligating you the actual importer with the government of the United States. If is against the law for a Customhouse Broker to sign your name unless he possesses a valid Power of Attorney from the importer.
